We’re excited to share some big news — UK Commercial Group Ltd and our CEO, Mr. Tony Earnshaw, feature in the gripping new Channel 4 documentary series, “Crime Scene Cleaners,” airing Monday 4th August at 10 PM.
This compelling series offers viewers a rare look into one of the UK’s most dangerous and sensitive cleaning professions. It sheds light on the unseen world of crime scene cleaning — a crucial service that few people witness, but one that requires exceptional skill, dedication, and care.
At UK Commercial Group, crime scene cleaning is among the most intense and demanding services we offer. Our professional teams are available 24/7 to respond to emergencies across the UK. These include violent crime scenes, drug dens, stabbings, and other traumatic incidents. We frequently work alongside local councils, housing associations, and private landlords to restore order and safety to environments often left in chaos.
In the documentary, our CEO Tony Earnshaw shares honest insight into the reality behind these call-outs:
“These call-outs require careful planning and coordination. The toughest part isn’t always the cleaning, it’s managing the environment safely.”
Cleaning up after a traumatic incident isn’t just about removing visible signs — it’s about managing health risks, working discreetly, and safeguarding both our staff and the public from hazardous materials and biological threats.
Our teams follow strict health and safety protocols to minimise exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other contaminants. As Tony explains in the series:
“Our priority is protecting staff while following strict protocols to reduce the risks from blood-borne pathogens and hazardous materials.”
To do this, we deploy specialist decontamination units that mirror the methods used in asbestos removal. These mobile units are key to maintaining a sterile environment before, during, and after the job:
“We deploy decontamination units similar to those used in asbestos removal. These units have ‘clean’ and ‘dirty’ zones to allow operatives to change into PPE safely. Once the job is complete, there’s a rigorous decontamination process, including safe disposal of gear and showering before leaving the site.”
Once inside the affected site, our crime scene cleaning process is both systematic and thorough, using industry-leading techniques and powerful cleaning agents:
“We clean from ceiling to floor using sodium hypochlorite disinfectants and disposable tools. Our custom chemical solutions are specially formulated to neutralize biohazards and ensure the space is safe for occupancy.”
What the public will see in this Channel 4 series is more than just cleaning — it’s about restoring dignity, ensuring safety, and giving people back their homes and workplaces after unimaginable events. These aren’t easy jobs. But our teams carry them out with professionalism, respect, and unwavering commitment. ‘Crime Scene Cleaners’ pulls back the curtain on an essential service few people ever witness, carried out with expertise, respect, and an unwavering focus on health and safety.
We’re incredibly proud to showcase the vital work our teams perform every day and hope this national platform brings well-deserved recognition to their resilience, skill, and dedication.
🕙 Don’t miss it — “Crime Scene Cleaners” premieres Monday 4th August at 10 PM on Channel 4.
