Prevent Water Damage By Retiling Your Bathroom

March 23rd, 2016 - by Blueshark Design

Your bathroom is the room in your house that is most likely to be damaged by water, and this can be expensive because damage from water has usually been happening long before it is found. Re-tiling your bathroom using professional tilers can be a great solution to prevent any water damage problems, but let’s have a look at some of the most troublesome problems that can arise in your bathroom.

Check Your Shower and Bath

To avoid any damage to tiles and also avoid a water clean-up, check the tiles and grouting. If grout is missing or has deteriorated, this could be a potential problem, as water can get behind the tiles and grout and cause damage that can be very hard to find until the problem becomes one that just can’t be ignored.

Things to do that can help include pulling the plug in your bath and not letting water stay in it, drying off your shower and bath after using them and turning on your ventilation fan to get rid of any excess moisture from the air.

Check Your Toilet

Check the water pipes leading to the toilet regularly to ensure they are free from leaks. If you also hear the water tank fill up for no reason, you may have a leak somewhere. Cracks can also cause problems, and water can slowly seep through them, leading to damage.

Problems with toilets are often hard to detect because the pipework is usually hidden behind walls and under floors. Check for any discolouration or soft spots, as these could be a sign of a leaky pipe.
