Duration:  2 Days (1 days training, 1 day assessment.

Cost: £475 + VAT- for 2 days in total this includes a BESA electronic Certificate upon Successful completion. PLEASE NOTE- You must have a valid H&S Operative certificate as described below to partake in this course. We advise the BESA Academy Online Health Safety Environment test certificate- Course – The BESA.

You must also hold a current GHO certificate or a GHT certificate that has not been expired for more than 6 months.

Who should take the Kitchen Extractor Fan Cleaning Course?

The course is designed for people who are required to sign off ventilation hygiene works to meet the industry recognised cleaning requirements.

Candidates must hold both the BESA GHO & GHT certificates to issue TR19 Grease certificates as well as be a member of BESCA.

Course overview:

Delegates will be shown training on the practical & theory side of the course, assessments will be required for successful completion. Final assessment is in the form of a multiple choice question paper (you are able to have 2 attempts at the theory paper, failure to pass after 2 attempts would lead to needing to resit the course in full at full price, a practical assessment and a professional discussion.

The GHT Practical & Theory sessions include:

  • Supervising teams and allocating work.
  • Understanding and completing RAMS
  • Pre & post clean verification and testing including “Wet film thickness testing”

Knowledge taught within the Kitchen Extractor Fan Cleaning Course:

  • H&S in the workplace including PPE
  • Understanding how a kitchen grease extraction system works and its components.
  • Prepare the work environment, PPE & equipment selection.
  • Selecting a location, preparing and fitting access panels (various cutting methods).
  • Using different cleaning methods, the most practical solutions & how to safely carry out a clean.
  • Housekeeping after a clean.
  • Supervising a team and showing how to lead.
  • Understand & put into practice pre & post clean testing and reporting.

  • Doing the course does not guarantee a pass, you must successfully complete the multiple choice paper, Practical assessment & Professional discussion to pass.
  • You have TWO attempts at each multiple choice paper- failure to pass these will result in the need to resit the full training course at full cost.
  • Tea & Coffee is provided on the course however lunch is not ( Lots of places locally to get food)
