This comprehensive Fire Damper Inspection & Maintenance Course, delivered by UK Commercial Group, provides both theoretical and practical training designed to meet current industry standards and legislative requirements.

The course equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to safely inspect, test, and maintain fire dampers in line with UK regulations and best practice guidance.

Delegates will learn how to:

• Carry out fire damper drop tests safely and effectively
• Identify and report installation issues
• Record test results accurately for compliance reports
• Recommend appropriate remedial actions

Upon successful completion, learners will receive a UK Commercial Group Fire Damper Testing and Inspection Certificate, valid for five years.

Practical Training

Delegates will gain hands-on experience working with a variety of fire damper types, including both mechanical and motorised dampers, installed across different wall and floor types at our purpose-built training facility.

Practical modules include:

• Access panel installation
• Removable duct section fitting
• Fire damper function and drop testing
• Cleaning and maintenance procedures
• Inspection report creation and documentation

Each delegate will learn to produce their own fire damper inspection report.

Theoretical Training

The classroom-based element covers all relevant UK fire safety legislation and industry standards, ensuring delegates understand both the principles and legal obligations behind fire damper testing.

Topics include:

• EN 1366-2, BS 9999:2017, BESA DW145, DW144, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO)
• Understanding and interpreting building plans and manufacturer drawings
• Reporting procedures and compliance documentation
• Pricing considerations for fire damper testing projects

The theory component concludes with a multiple-choice assessment and technical drawing exercise to validate understanding.

Each participant receives a comprehensive learner pack, containing:

• Key reference materials on fire damper types and testing methods
• Guidance on identifying fusible links
• Useful links to official standards and resources for ongoing reference

Courses run from 10:00 until 16:00 depending on the level of experience of the trainees.
